Attempted Smuggling Prevented at Lviv Customs Checkpoint
On Sunday, July 7, border guards at the «Hrushev» checkpoint of the Lviv Customs foiled an attempted smuggling operation. A 42-year-old woman from Berezhany district in Ternopil region was detained while trying to bring a 25-year-old man across the border. It was revealed that the two had recently entered into a fictitious marriage.
According to the Western Regional Administration of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, the couple was apprehended during the night at the Hrushev checkpoint. Their marriage, which was registered on June 18 of this year, was found to be fraudulent.
