Tragic Murder in Odessa Region
In the Odessa region, a 14-year-old girl has been arrested on suspicion of murdering her friend. According to the regional headquarters of the National Police, on the morning of January 6 in Izmail, an elderly man discovered a body on fire on the banks of the Danube river while walking his dog. He immediately contacted the police.
Suspect Confesses to Gruesome Crime
Law enforcement officers quickly arrived at the scene and determined that the victim — a 14-year-old girl — had been killed by multiple stab wounds. After conducting investigative measures and analyzing CCTV footage in the city, the police found out that two girls had gone to the river together, but only one returned. It turned out that the second girl, an acquaintance from a parallel class, became a suspect. The teenager confessed to the crime.
Motive for Murder Revealed
According to him, the motive for the murder was a grudge against his friend, whom he claimed had been constantly stealing from him. The final straw was when the friend allegedly stole money from his piggy bank. The teenager decided to seek revenge by inviting her for a walk to the river and offering her a «surprise». He then blindfolded her and attacked her with a knife.
One of the wounds proved to be fatal. After that, the killer doused the body with oil, set it on fire, and fled, leaving the knife at the crime scene. The police collected evidence and arrested the suspect. He is currently in custody, facing charges of murder.
