Two residents of Kamianets-Podilskyi fell victim to a scam, losing 45,000 hryvnias as a result. This was reported by the press service of the Kamianets-Podilskyi district police department, which is already investigating the events and searching for the criminals.
Details of the Scams
According to the police, one of the scams involved «protecting the bank account», where an unknown person pretending to be a bank employee informed a woman about a possible threat of a hacker attack on her account. In order to «protect» her money, the victim transferred 40,000 hryvnias to a «reserve card» provided by the scammers. Later she discovered that it was a scam and reported it to the police.
In another case, a resident of Novoushychi became interested in a children’s trampoline, the advertisement for which she saw on social media at an extremely low price. After interacting with the seller, she transferred 5,000 hryvnias, but later lost contact with him, never receiving the product.
