The information about Yaroslav Dubnevych crossing the border, which was used by the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office as a basis for declaring him wanted internationally, turned out to be unreliable.
The results of the check by Europol systems, provided upon the request of lawyer Volodymyr Bohatyry, confirmed this information, reported by RBC-Ukraine.
SAP is considering a number of charges against the MP, and at one of the hearings, the prosecutor filed a motion for his international search, claiming that he was abroad. However, the defense side denied this fact, stating that the defendant was undergoing treatment. Dubnevych himself had earlier informed via video link that he was in a hospital in Ukraine.
VAKS granted the prosecutor’s motion and announced the defendant wanted internationally, although the State Border Guard Service did not record Dubnevych crossing the state border.
The data received from Europol cast doubt on the accuracy of the information provided by the prosecutor to the court. In a letter dated 03.04.2024 No. 1361557-24, the headquarters of the European Police Office in The Hague stated: «No data on Mr. Yaroslav Dubnevych are processed in Europol.»
