Ukraine Mobilizes Prisoners for Defense
According to the Minister of Justice of Ukraine, Denis Malyuska, Ukraine intends to mobilize about 10,000 prisoners to strengthen its defense.
Prisoners involved in the military mobilization could become additional forces for the defense of Ukraine in case of threats from Russia. According to Malyuska, this will differ from the approach of Russian DRG, who tried to break through the border in the north but fell into an ambush.
«We have different approaches. For us, this is a contractual mobilization, where people agree to serve. This is different from the situation when people are forced to go to war,» explained Malyuska.
According to him, thanks to the mobilization of prisoners, the Armed Forces of Ukraine could increase their ranks by 10-20 thousand people, but the exact number will depend on various factors, including the results of the military medical commission.
