Zaporizhia Regional Prosecutor’s Office Convicts Two Law Enforcement Officers for State Treason
The Zaporizhia Regional Prosecutor’s Office has successfully proven the guilt of two law enforcement officers under Article 111 Part 2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which concerns state treason. They have been sentenced to 15 years in prison with property confiscation.
According to the prosecution, after the occupation of part of the Zaporizhia region, the personnel inspector of the Melitopol and Vasilivka district police departments contacted the occupation authorities.
Starting from April 2022, they stopped fulfilling their duties towards Ukraine and supported the regime of the aggressor country by joining the so-called «people’s militia.»
One of them headed the personnel department in the occupation police and ensured its operation, while the other patrolled the territory of the occupied Kamyanka-Dniprovska together with Russian Federation military personnel, took part in illegal searches of the local population, and provided security during the pseudo-referendum.
The pre-trial investigation was conducted by the employees of the Territorial Department of the State Bureau of Investigations in Melitopol.
