The National Anti-Corruption Bureau Suspicion
The National Anti-Corruption Bureau has reported suspicion to a former member of parliament, who currently holds the position of head of the Odessa district council. He is accused of receiving unlawful compensation from the budget in the amount of over 613 thousand hryvnias for renting accommodation in Kiev. Details of the case were presented by the SAP press service.
Suspicion Issued in Absentia
The suspicion was issued in absentia as the official could not be found. According to the publication «Slovo i delo», the main figure involved is Vitaliy Barvinenko.
Previous Allegations
In 2019, before the elections, searches were conducted at Vitaliy Barvinenko’s headquarters on suspicion of creating a network for bribing voters. The police uncovered evidence of voter bribery in several districts. Barvinenko was not held criminally responsible and in 2020 became the chairman of the Odessa district council.
