The 14th package of sanctions approved by the European Union against Russia will include a ban on any private and charter flights organized for the benefit of Russians or companies from the Russian Federation. This was reported by EUobserver, citing an official document from the European Commission.

Flight Ban

According to the publication, the ban will apply to all flights for which a Russian legal or natural person has the right to determine the place of departure and landing. This measure is aimed at stopping the mass flights of Russians to resorts, as Russian companies often use charter flights of European carriers to bypass existing restrictions.

Other Measures

The new package of sanctions also includes restrictions on the import of liquefied natural gas and other resources, financial restrictions for political parties and non-governmental organizations, measures against cargo ships, disconnecting Russia from SWIFT, expanding the sanctions lists of individuals and legal entities, as well as restrictions for more than 50 companies outside the EU that cooperate with Russia in circumvention of sanctions.
