City-wide Mourning Period Proposed by Local Deputy
During the 51st session of the Drohobych City Council on June 6, local deputy Marta Slotylo proposed declaring a city-wide mourning period for when soldiers «return on shields» to their hometown. Slotylo suggested canceling mass events, lowering national flags, and refraining from playing loud music. The head of the community, Taras Kuchma, has expressed support for this initiative, and a relevant order will soon be issued.
Nationwide «Minute of Silence» to Honor Fallen Soldiers and Civilians
The city is calling on residents to honor the memory of fallen soldiers and civilians whose lives were cut short by the war daily at 9:00 a.m. during the Nationwide «Minute of Silence.» This minute of remembrance is announced from the tower of the city council. Despite this, some residents continue to be occupied with their daily affairs and ignore this important event.
