A Russian terrorist detained for planning explosion in France

A Russian terrorist, who planned an explosion of military aid for Ukraine during the visit of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, was detained in France. The incident occurred on June 3, reported Reuters, citing a source in the French anti-terrorism prosecutor’s office.

The criminal suffered serious burns to his face while making a homemade explosive device in a hotel room near the airport. Firefighters provided him with medical assistance after the explosion, which caused significant burns.

During a search of his hotel room, law enforcement officers found products and materials for making explosive devices. The French National Anti-Terrorism Prosecutor’s Office (PNAT) has launched an investigation into the suspect in the terrorist conspiracy and explosion planning.

The Paris airport CDG, located near the place of detention, stated that the incident did not affect its operation. France is in a state of maximum readiness, preparing for the Olympics in Paris, which will take place in less than two months. The games are taking place against the backdrop of a complex geopolitical situation, associated with the war in Ukraine and the conflict in the Gaza Strip, which poses a serious challenge to the country’s security.

The Ukrainian Embassy in Paris has not yet commented on the situation, nor has the Russian embassy.
