Scam Involving Fake Disability Certificates Uncovered in Lviv Region
Law enforcement officers in the Lviv region have uncovered a scheme where military conscripts could obtain fake disability certificates abroad. According to the Western Regional Office of the State Border Guard Service, a resident of the Odessa region and a medical worker from the Rivne region were involved in producing forged documents with the stamps of the Ministry of Social Policy for $1500.
These certificates allowed young men to easily cross the border, avoiding military service. The organizers accompanied clients to border checkpoints and provided them with instructions on how to bypass border controls.
Law enforcement authorities have charged the culprits with document forgery and illegal smuggling of individuals across the border. These crimes carry a possible sentence of up to 9 years in prison.
