Two Foreign-Born Brothers Detained in Odessa for Working with Russian FSB
According to the press service of the Odessa Regional Prosecutor’s Office, two foreign-born brothers, believed to be working for the Russian FSB, have been arrested in Odessa. The individuals, originally from the Caucasus region, were found gathering information on the Ukrainian Air Force for hostile intelligence services.
Charged with Unauthorized Dissemination of Information
The suspects were reportedly interested in data regarding the location of Ukrainian defense units and air defense systems in the city. They have now been charged with unauthorized dissemination of information about the Armed Forces of Ukraine, under part 3 of article 114-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
Conspiracy with FSB Employee
Investigations revealed that in late February 2024, the brothers, who were temporarily residing in Odessa, conspired with an FSB employee to carry out subversive activities against Ukraine. They conducted reconnaissance of Ukrainian Armed Forces units in Odessa and provided the FSB with geolocation information on air defense units.
Arrest and Preventive Measures
Law enforcement officers apprehended the brothers while they were engaged in another task for the enemy. The court has granted the prosecution’s request to remand both defendants in custody as a preventive measure. The detainees, aged 29 and 25, face up to 12 years in prison for their actions.
