High-ranking British ministers and officials have repeatedly tried to convey to Germany that Ukraine needs its Taurus missiles, according to Bloomberg agency sources.
The media note that London has proposed a solution to Berlin that would allow sending its missiles to Ukraine
Specifically, the plan is for the United Kingdom to supply Kyiv with more of its own Storm Shadow missiles, and Germany would then replenish the UK’s stocks with long-range missiles as replacements.
One British official stated in a comment to the news agency that Germany should «stop justifying itself.»
«The way Scholz conducts himself shows that, from the point of view of European security, he is inadequate, he does not fulfill his official status and is not up-to-date,» former British Defense Minister Ben Wallace said in a column for the Evening Standard.
As is known, Ukraine has been urging Germany since last year to begin supplying long-range Taurus missiles. Furthermore, the German company MBDA Deutschland has stated that it can start new production of Taurus missiles requested by Ukraine in the shortest possible time.
It is worth noting that German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has stated that he does not provide Ukraine with long-range Taurus missiles because they could harm targets in Moscow.
