Police Uncover Fraudulent Scheme in Odessa Region
Police have uncovered a scheme of two residents of the Odessa region who organized a fraudulent enterprise, promising to sell quadcopters to the military and import cars from abroad.
According to the police, in order to avoid suspicion, the scammers used bank accounts of fictitious individuals, to which trusting buyers transferred money. Later, the funds were transferred to a cryptocurrency wallet, and then ended up in the accounts of the perpetrators.
During the searches, the men’s computer equipment, phones, bank cards, and nearly 40,000 hryvnias in cash were seized.
An investigation is being conducted under Article 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (fraud), which carries a penalty of up to five years in prison.
