Reconstruction of the SKIF stadium

The SKIF stadium of the Ivan Bobersky Lviv State University of Physical Culture underwent significant reconstruction from 2018 to 2021. The project cost 13,245,000 hryvnias, funded by the State Fund for Regional Development and the regional budget. The work was carried out on modern equipment PlanoMatic P703 — an automated laying machine of polyurethane pavement for professional athletics tracks ranging from 6 to 50 mm. A two-layer cushioned polyurethane system with rubber granules and colored rubber (EPDM) was used for the arrangement, meeting all IAAF (International Association of Athletics Federations) certification requirements.

The project implementation was responsibly carried out by the capital construction management and the youth and sports management of the Lviv Regional State Administration. In addition to arranging the sports surface, a major renovation of the stadium warm-up area was carried out, which was mandatory for hosting the Championships and Cups of Ukraine.

Today, the SKIF stadium is the main training base for the preparation of the national team athletes for international competitions, including world championships and the Olympic Games.

«The SKIF stadium is a unique facility located on the site of a sand quarry and surrounded by greenery, which ensures minimal error in the results of athletes and improves their overall performance. Last year, we successfully hosted the team Championship of Ukraine in athletics, and now we are proud to be able to host the individual championship. All this became possible thanks to the reconstruction of the facilities that are already nurturing young champions today. We are confident that after our victory, we will continue this path of sports development,» said Roman Khimyak, head of the youth and sports management of the Lviv RSA.
