Archaeologists Uncover 5,000-Year-Old Temple in Peru

Archaeologists in Peru have made an incredible discovery — an ancient temple that predates the Inca civilization by 5,000 years. The temple was found in the archaeological complex of Los Paredones de la Otra Banda — Las Animas.

The temple features compact clay walls and central stairs leading to a stage or platform. Anthropomorphic carvings with elements of humans, birds, felines, and reptiles were also found, indicating that the space was likely used for special ceremonies. Colorful paintings on the walls further confirm this theory.

In addition to the main temple, another ceremonial structure from the late Moche period dating back 600-700 years AD was discovered nearby. This temple has a large stepped platform with buttresses, and the remains of a child from the same period were also found.
