Future models of the Google Pixel 9 series are planned to feature an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner.

According to experts, this decision is aimed at solving the problem of slow and unreliable performance of the under-display scanner, which was characteristic of previous Pixel models.

Optical scanners have often been criticized for slow unlocking, low accuracy, and sensitivity to moisture and dirt. They also emit a bright flash in low-light conditions, which can be unpleasant for users. Ultrasonic scanners, such as Qualcomm 3D Sonic Gen 2, are known for their speed and reliability.

They create a more detailed image of the fingerprint, making them less prone to errors and allowing them to work in any lighting conditions without the need for a bright flash.

It is worth reminding that the official announcement of the Pixel 9 series is expected on August 13th.
