In Kamyanske, law enforcement officers exposed a criminal who used the internet to post fraudulent advertisements for selling mobile phones at reduced prices. According to the investigation, three people, including two minors, responded to his offers.
The criminal communicated with potential buyers through messengers.
For example, he offered an 18-year-old boy to exchange a phone for a smartwatch with an additional payment in his favor. After the money was transferred to the «seller’s» bank account, the communication was interrupted without providing the goods.
In another case, the criminal gave a 16-year-old boy a box with a piece of metal instead of the promised phone.
The criminal also agreed to sell a mobile phone to a 17-year-old girl for full prepayment, but the girl was also left without money and the product.
After the investigation, the police officers of the Kamyanske district police department notified the suspect of the suspicion of committing fraud under Article 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
When using internet platforms for purchases, be cautious and make sure you are dealing with a real person who has the product you need.
