Large Traffic Accident on Brest-Litovsk Highway
A large traffic accident involving 6 vehicles occurred on the 17th kilometer of the Brest-Litovsk highway in Kyiv, as reported by the Kyiv police.
Details of the Accident
It was determined that the driver of the MAN truck, who was traveling towards Kyiv, collided with a Mercedes Sprinter minibus. Due to the impact, the minibus lost stability and crashed into four cars.
Injuries and Consequences
As a result of the accident, 8 passengers of the minibus sustained injuries and were taken to the hospital.
Cause and Legal Action
According to preliminary information, the cause of the accident was that the 53-year-old truck driver fell asleep at the wheel. The man has been detained. Criminal proceedings have been initiated under Article 286 Part 2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — Violation of traffic safety or operation of vehicles by drivers. This article carries a penalty of up to 8 years of imprisonment.
